In conjunction with Fitness Australia in NSW, Fitnation has developed the Older. Fitter. Better program to develop the knowledge of trainers in working with older clients.

The objective of Older. Fitter. Better, is to deliver fitness instructors and trainers the skills and knowledge that will make them proficient in working with older clients. It should be emphasized that instructors and trainers would work in association with health and medical professionals when providing services to many of these clients.

The course includes:

  • Introduction to ageing
  • Legalities and ethical considerations
  • Principles of exercise programming
  • Assessing the capabilities of the older client
  • Designing and instructing exercise and activity programs
  • Strength training
  • Physical and medical conditions associated with ageing

Prerequisite: Certificate III in Fitness

This course is presented by Vicki Derkley, Diploma of Fitness, Rehabilitation and Older Adult Specialist.

Assessments

Case study style questions and a practical assessment that is completed by video.

15 CEC's or 3 PDP's plus credit toward the Certificate IV in Fitness (Personal Training):

With an ageing population, the requirement to work with Older Adults is becoming more prevalent; however there are additional considerations and necessities in doing so. The Certificate of Fitness for Older Adults provides personal trainers and gym instructors with the skills and knowledge that can be applied to facilitate them working with older clientele.

The Mini Moves Instructor Accreditation program is a nationally accredited course, supported and delivered by Fitnation.

The Mini Moves course includes 3 programs in 1:

  1. Mini Moves - Physical Activity & Nutrition (5 to 10 year olds)
  2. Mini Moves - Fitness Circuits (5 - 10 year olds)
  3. Kinder Moves (3 to 5 year olds)

Each of these 3 programs has between 10 - 12 fun themed, pre-choreographed sessions. The sessions have all been designed by a team of fitness professionals and include:

  • Warm up activities and ice breakers
  • Cardiovascular fitness and strength
  • Sport skills, fun games, balance activities
  • Stretching

Pre-requisites

  • Certificate in Fitness (Gym or Group Exercise Instructor)

  • Working with Children Check (needs to be completed before certificate is issued)

Refunds

  • For students enrolled in contact course, refund requests must be received no later than 7 days prior to commencement of course. Refunds will be given less an administration fee of $200. No refund will be given if all resources have been sent.
  • For students enrolled in the online course who have received the username and password and therefore access to the course, no refunds will be given.
  • For students enrolled in the correspondence course no refunds will be given once resources have been sent.
  • Enrolments cannot be transferred
