With an emphasis placed on understanding the physiology of healing and implementing progressive rehabilitation exercise programs, this course offers fitness professionals a grounding in the principles of dealing with rehabilitating clients.

This course provides fitness instructors and personal trainers with an overview of the principles of dealing with rehabilitating clients. An emphasis is placed on providing an understanding of the physiology of healing and implementing progressive rehabilitation exercise programs. The course includes:

  • Types of rehabilitation
  • Stages of healing
  • Principles of rehabilitation
  • Orthopaedic rehabilitation for specific injuries of the shoulder, knee, hip, back, ankle, hand, arm
  • Liaising with other professionals throughout the healing process
  • Equipment and machinery used in rehabilitation - usefulness, limitations, principles 
  • Physiotherapy and surgery for sports injuries
  • Examples of specific exercises for injuries

Assessments

Short answer questions assess students’ knowledge of the materials covered.

Course delivery

This course can be completed online. You can enrol anytime and can expect to start within 24 business hours. You have up to three months to complete each module or short course (most people finish much sooner). All resources including narrated PowerPoints, video clips, notes, activities, assessments and student support are included in the cost of the course.
