Save yourself time and money! Do you have a current gym instructor related qualification or work experience? You may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning for part of, or the entire Certificate III in Fitness (Gym Instructor).
To apply for recognition of prior learning, download a copy of the application form found at the bottom of this page and follow these instructions:
- Review the units of competency included in the stage / course and decide whether your current skills and qualifications may enable you to gain exemption.

Complete the RPL form in detail, providing verified evidence supporting your competency in the individual units. The verified evidence may include:
- Statements of results from previous courses (must be verified copies)
- Course / module / subject outlines indicating content
- Duty statements and work responsibilities
- Testimonials from clients
- Examples of exercise programs developed for clients with a range of goals (eg. weight loss, improved cardiovascular fitness, increased strength, etc)
- Examples of exercise programs developed for clients with special needs (eg. overweight, pregnancy, children, asthmatics, etc)
- The evidence provided must be current
- Submit the form with $90 per stage for which you are applying for exemption (ie. To a maximum of $250 for all three Stages). The RPL fee is non refundable but will be deducted from the course fee if exemption is not granted and you enrol in the stage or course.
- You may apply for RPL for individual units within a stage. However, you must satisfy the requirements of all units of competency within the stage to be granted exemption for that stage.
